June/July GOC Update: Charelle (#10)

Hair
The past couple of months have been the most eventful months of my life, thus far. I quit my job and moved to Philadelphia for medical school. With all these changes, I have to say my hair has suffered. I don’t remember the last time I deep conditioned and I’ve been relying mostly on wash n gos. It’s become apparent to me that I’m not going to have as much free time as I used to for doing my hair. So, I’m going to have to figure out a way to keep my hair healthy and not spend hours doing it.

Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of length I retained when I did my 3 month length check, I hope to be at my goal of BSL by the end of the challenge.

The only new product that I’ve tried these past two months has been Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner, since everyone has been raving about it. I like the smell and the consistency and how it makes my hair feel, so it’s definitely a keeper. I also did a flexirod set and I loved the results. I used about 33 of the red rods and separated the
curls once the set was dry. I’ll definitely be doing these sets more often.

Health and Fitness
I’ve purposely not included this category in my GOC updates for the past couple of months, because I made no effort at being healthy or fit. But now, I’m back on track. At school, I met a few people who love working out, so I followed them to the gym. I’ve been working out hard 3 days a weeks and restricted my caloric intake to about 1000 calories a day. Losing weight is definitely much easier when you have a support system. So far, I’ve lost about 5 pounds.

  1. 1000 calories a day is very low. Most women should not eat less than 1200 calories per day. Eating too few calories stalls your metabolism and will ultimately keep you from losing weight.

    • LOL! TD, I e-mailed her this morning saying essentially the same thing. I knew that someone would tell her here too. But, she told me that she already upped her calories because she learned this:). Yea! LOL!!
