Lost a member of my childhood church family to cancer today. She was only 32 years old. She helped get us all together last September for a reunion of our Junior Gospel Choir in honor of our retiring director/pianist. She helped create a memory that will last a lifetime. It feels so surreal. Just wanted to share this in her memory. RIP Latisha. You are at peace and rest with our God now and we know that He doesn’t make mistakes. We love and will miss you.

Mixing Rainbows – The Chic Savant
Okay, this is a daring look, but … I LOVE IT!!! I think this outfit, the skirt, the shoes the colors?!?! So banging!! Candice is va-va-va-VOOM!! Now THAT is an hourglass figure!! I don’t think I could pull this off right now … the saddlebag thighs would NOT have been cute in those horizontal stripes. But, I wish I had picked up this skirt from ASOS when it was still around. Because, when I get down to my “fighting weight,” it would have been on!! LOL!!
Michelle’s Jaded Tresses Haircut Party!
Jaded Tresses is taking the world by storm!! *lol* So, as most of you know, I helped organize a haircut party a few weeks ago (if you missed that post, check it out here). Well, shortly thereafter, I learned that one of my readers, Michelle (I know, I know, which Michelle? ;)), was organizing her own haircut party with #TheCurlWhisperer aka Tameeka McNeil-Johnson. Of course I told her, “I WANT PICS!!” And here they are … the before and afters of all these lovely ladies in their kinky, curly, coily GLORY!! (Captions provided by Michelle;).
LOVES IT!!! It makes me sooooo happy to see all of these gorgeous naturals. But, what really makes me smile is to see all of THEIR smiles!! So often, we come out of salons as naturals disappointed or upset after a haircut. To see so many ladies ecstatic is exhilarating and I want to personally thank Tameeka for sharing her gift with us!!
Evolution of 6 Chunky Twists
Good morning ladies! Hope that you are all well! It’s Thursday … 2 more days to go! Anywho, this is just a quick “This Week’s Hair” update post! If you remember, I mentioned in my Henna Weekend post on Monday that I planned to put my hair in 4-6 big twists after rinsing my conditioner in the morning. Well, I did and I left them in for work, only pulling them back into a low ponytail for the day.
On Tuesday morning, I released them for a twist-out and tried to do a side part. However, that right side was being barely wavy like it’s wont to be. So, I French braided the top back a little, then braided the rest of the hair. These pics are after work and before I worked-out.
I didn’t like how flat my hair was, so I decided to fluff it.
I was LOVING it now! … But, had to stick it in a bun to work-out. So, I applied a litte Wild Growth Hair Oil Light to the length first and quickly put it up. I had plans to set it in a dry braid-out that night (really loving braid-outs now!) … but it never happened and I went to bed with the bun and bonnet. The next morning, the curls/waves had been stretched and flattened by the bun and my hair was looking wild (not big wild, but slept badly wild … *lol*). So, I remembered a pic I had just seen of Lea Michele from Glee a day or two previously …
And I decided to do a quick, messy side braid for work on Wednesday.
I probably should have started the braid a little higher. But, oh well *shrugging shoulders* … it worked. Ended up bunning it again for Cardio Max and bed. Don’t know what today holds, but I’ll probably just redo the bun to neaten it up for work and keep it moving.
HAPPY THURSDAY!!
