A friend posted this video on Facebook today and given that I’m trying to get back on my fitness grind, thought I’d share it! It’s not enough to meet my 20 minute a day quota, but would be a great way to get going in the morning and can be applied towards the daily goal! Plus, a four minute routine that boosts the metabolism for 36 hours thereafter? That’s a win/win!

This is awesome and I am so glad that you shared it. I will be installing this into my workout routine. It is going to be my pre-warmup workout. I hope all goes well! Have you tried it yet?

No, I haven’t tried it yet1 Just saw it this morning, but I thought the same thing! When I’m on my grind, I tend to do a 10 minute abs of steel workout in the morning and I don’t warm-up prior to it. I was thinking I might try this before hitting the mat. Though, I have to admit, it might be too much for me first thing in the morning! I am NOT a morning person! LOL!! Oh, but, I’ve done squat thrusts (without the push up though) and mountain climbers for 60 second intervals as part of my Lauren Brooks kettlebell 12 minute routine. So, I know they get the heart rate going!!

Okay I just finished the 4 minute workout with my wife. It is definitely a keeper. We used YouTube via our Playstation 3 and put it on our television. From there we put yoga mats down and went at it full force. 4 minutes later we were out of breath but feeling good. I think you should give it a go.

On another note, I just saw 2 of your videos on YouTube and I must say it is awesome to look at your hair…and know that it is your hair. My daughter grows her natural hair and she is only 8. We want her to love and take care of her hair but you don’t often see many women of color with long (I mean mid neck length) hair. So it is easy to fall into the weave trap. Again I was very surprised (in a good way) and I hope you keep it up!
PS, we are now following your blog and looking for awesome hair tips. Here is a picture of my daughter last summer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaymalden/5462552608/in/set-72157622766105205 Her hair now is much longer. We would love for you to become a part of our Socially Fit Network.

I just signed up to follow your blog too Shay (right?)!! And you are motivating me to get off of this computer as I still haven’t worked out yet!! In regard to your daughter, have you looked at any of the Mini-Hairscapaders HairStories yet? I just started it a little over a month ago at the suggestion of a very clever reader:). The stories may inspire you and your daughter! And, if you check out the other hairstories too, you’ll see that so many are able to achieve natural hair a LOT longer than shoulder length with a good regimen.
p.s. Gorgeous picture of your daughter and awesome photo!!

Each of these exercises are a part of Jillian Michael’s DVD that I have. The first time I did it, I threw up LOL. The 2nd time I did it…a year later but much lighter in weight I only almost threw up LOL.
Very high intensity. The DVD is 30 mins long. Those mountain climbers are no joke when you have a stomach! LOL
