Okay guys, so comments have been pretty scarce around here lately … even despite my best efforts to drum up some business with a sneakpeeq Gift Card Giveaway for which I will choose FOUR winners based upon the posts with the most comments this month! LOL!
But, I know how it is. Sometimes you don’t have anything to say or you mean to comment, but can’t because … ya know, you’re at work and not supposed to be on hair blogs. Or maybe you visit a site every day, but don’t even think about commenting or rating. Shoot, I read blogs all of the time and never comment or “like.” So, I’m just as guilty. But, I’m trying to get better by at least liking posts. Because, ya know, I know what it feels like to stay up until 1 a.m. to work hard on several posts that you think be well received and then see no ratings or comments. It’s like … *cricket, cricket* “Is this thing on? … Is anyone out there? … Does anyone like me? … Momma, can you hear me sing!?!?” LOL!
Okay, I know … I sound pathetic! So, long ramble to say, figured I’d do a poll in hopes that some of you regulars or new folk who plan on returning might participate and … ya know … make me feel better! Ummm … still sounding pathetic, aren’t I?
Well, without further ado (shoot, I probably lost a few people who didn’t make it through that intro!), here are the polls!! Oh, and feel free to comment with additional details if you feel so moved :)!
♥
In regard to the second poll, if there is anything else that you’d like to see on the site, please feel free to let me know what it is in the comments below :)!
I don’t comment that often, but I am always on your site! Every time you post on Facebook, I normally click the link. Love the site. I feel like a part of a community! Thank you.

FIrst time commentor here!
I’ve been here a few times, but there is usually a few weeks between visits. Not necessarily a bad thing ( at least for me – I get to read several entries at a time, which I like!) I do like your blog. I especially like the recent throwback entries about what your hair used to look like and what you used when you first went natural and how.

I take it all Dee! As long as you come back, I am ecstatic:)!! Thank you so much! I don’t have many pics from when I first went natural, so I won’t have many more of those. But, if I think of anything entertaining or helpful, I’ll be sure to share! Thank you again and hope it won’t be your last comment:).

Awwww, Sham, thank you lady! You always “like” and comment. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to read as many blogs since starting your own!! OMGosh, I feel deprived sometimes! I get to the point where I seriously procrastinate on writing new posts, because I’m trying to check in on and read posts from my faves!!
Awww, thank you. That’s my baby;)! He’s so supportive. Yesterday he told me, “I’m so proud of you with your blog.” How sweet is that?!?!

Hairscapades, it’s a sort of candy…..hum, really good but addictive : sometimes, I shall like being more patient to be able to savor your posts at noon, Shelli, but mostly, I break down : often at work, the ‘rate’ system is perfect for me !
My goal : do not read certain posts and keep them for the weekend, during my real moments of leisure (fail !).

Misha! Hey lady! Thank you so much. I know there are lulls and tides, so I thank you for all the comments that you have left in the past:)! Like I said, I find myself doing the same thing … that is, visiting frequently but not writing much. But, I’m staring to use the blogger, “like” tab when I’m pressed for time … which always seems to be the case anymore!! As to the GOC, it finishes at the end of January! The post about that is on my “to do” list for posting on Friday or this weekend at the latest!

Hey Shelli!! You know I’m still here. I’ve just taken on a new load at work so I don’t have as much down time as I used to but best believe I am still here. I have to admit, when you had in the twists, I had less to say. I thought they were gorgeous but I couldn’t relate. I come here because I love your hair. I love the creativity of your styles, how much you put in to keeping your hair at it’s healthiest, and witnessing your accomplishments. It makes me feel like having more beautiful and lustrous hair is within my reach. lol But seriously, we are still here. Just look at how many followers you have now. That is nuts! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the randoms, the SO posts, the features, and the GOC updates too. But YOUR hair is what really brings me here.

I have a list of natural hair blogs I check daily and you are in the top 3(actually you’re 2nd/1st everyday). When I first found your site it was refreshing but as I started the grown-out challenge, it got a little opinionated. I don’t comment because I don’t like the Hair-Nazi’s that believe their way with products and methods is the only way. I do love to hear about new products and I have wish list that is growing do to my frequent visits. In my mind we are a society that embraces each other thoughts and ideas. I will continue to visit and I wish you well..love love

I’m still here Shelli! I’ve been super busy with work, holidays and kids and it felt like I was commenting too much at one point so I dialed back. On top of that I catch up during my commute on the phone which also makes it a little hard to comment, but I’m pretty much here every day.
I love reading your blog, it’s down to earth and your sweet personality shines through so keep doing what you are doing. I used to have a blog also and the comments kept me going so I’ll try to remember to do it more often. (That pic is seriously precious. Seriously)

PS. The main reason I don’t comment all the time is I do most of my blog reading on my phone and it’s a right pain having to key in my email, name and website. I also tend not to comment on blogs that use Disquss or whatever it’s called because it’s an annoying system and I tend to lose my comment before posting it. I also tend not to comment on Blogspot blogs from my phone as I cannot change my user profile so it’s a no win for me when it comes to commenting. I tend to leave it all to when I am on my laptop.

I love your blog and natural hair tips! I’ve been natural for 11 years (I’m 22) but I have just found the time after college to start taking care of my hair and looking at natural hair blogs. So comments will be coming!! As far as a suggestion, I’m not sure how this would be worked in but I LOVE buying and trying new hair products but HATE when they don’t mix and leave white chunks and gunk in my hair. I think some type of segment detailing if products mix well or what type of proportion works would be helpful to our pockets, LOL. Just a thought!

Thank you Kierra! So, you were relaxed when you were really little then? As to the products, you know, I don’t have that problem often, so I really can’t speak to it. The only products that I’ve had a problem with recently is the JessiCurl Confident Coils. That seems to cause flakes with my DevaCare One and a little with the kimmaytube leave-in. I don’t know if that was helpful at all, but that’s about all I got on that topic! I did try to search for information about what causes the flakes when I had the problem with the JessiCurl gel cream. But, I didn’t find any answers. But other than that, I don’t have problems with those white chunks. I’ve read that Kinky Curly products don’t play well with others outside of the line. And, I think some have problems with Eco Styler gels. However, I’ve used Eco with shea butter and with Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter with no problem. For me, what seems to work is mixing the two products together first and then applying, rather than layering the products. It seems that most problems seem to come from trying to layer creams and/or gels over leave-ins. Hope something in that helps!

Thank you for the reply!
Yes, when I was little I had A LOT of hair and my mom said it was just too much for her to handle so she slipped a relaxer in when I was six. 😦
I’ve recently started trying to mix the Eco gel with products such as Shea Moisture and Cantu and have noticed the chunks. So I’ll try just mixing the Eco and butter first and see if that helps on my hair to eliminate the problem!
Thanks again!

Kierra, no problem:)!! Awwww, well, hopefully many will now learn by caring for their own hair how to manage their children’s hair in its natural state!!
As to your mixes, I mixed the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Hair Smoothie and Eco Styler Olive oil for the TnC set in this picture with no flaking problems.
https://hairscapades.com/about/#wpcom-carousel-1445
In fact, I got a GREAT set out of it. But, again, I mix the two together in my palm to blend them well and then apply, rather than layering one over the other. I’m pretty sure I used Kimmaytube leave-in first, then applied the SM & Eco mix to each section before twisting and setting.
