Project Scale Down: Day 1 & Brazil Butt Lift

Standard

Yup, it’s a project now. I picked up about 8 pounds over the holidays. Now, one or two of those are probably related to water weight, but there are some real fat pounds involved. So, Project Scale Down is to return to my ideal weight of 118-120 pounds (I’m 5’1″ with a medium frame) by the end of January and the end of the Hairscapades GOC.

For the next 28 days, I will do at least 10 minutes of exercise each day. I was inspired by Chy’sCurlz, who is doing the Sparkpeople.com 28 Day Bootcamp. I’m not going to join that as I know what exercise routines/schedule works for me. So, I will be training with kettlebells, treadmill and the Brazil Butt Lift (BBL) DVD series. I will also be tuning into The Biggest Loser again as the newest season is starting right now! I don’t think that you can watch that show every week and sit on the couch doing nothing! It helped keep me motivated when I lost 25 pounds last year.

I will also post a brief work-out update after I complete my scheduled exercise plan each day. This will help motivate me (I hate failing) and keep me accountable because I know at least one person is watching ;).

Day 1:

  • 10 minute Abs of Steel routine (Tamilee Webb from the 90s, I SWEAR by it), a.m.
  • 28 minute, low to medium intensity Cardio Axe/BBL routine, p.m. (Gotta ease my way back into this ;).)

In case you’re interested, here’s a little snippet of Cardio Axe that I found on YouTube.

I’ll be posting a review of BBL soon!

So yeah, that’s my story, and I’m sticking with it!

  1. Yeah. I think I need a separate challenge just to loose weight. Not being able to workout and having that happen around Thanksgiving and Christmas just messed me up. That plan to eat right went right out the window. I just started the Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred and so far I like it. I hope to lose 5lbs by the end of the month and another 5lbs by the end of February. I’m just being realistic 🙂

    • I know EXACTLY what you mean Krystal. It’s a constant push … staying consistent with eating healthy and exercising. But, I figure, even if it ends up that I fall-off for a couple of months, at least I always get back in and do something. And something is better than nothing!

  2. As I sit here watching the Biggest Loser, I decided to get back on the grind. I have been working a lot the last few weeks, but I know that’s no reason for my added pounds that I picked up since Thanksgiving. I am not going to set a goal, because I realize sometimes when I set a goal, 9 times out of 10 I fail. I’m gonna have to check out that boot camp page because I wanna move like Jagger.

    • Hey, whatever works, right? I only half watched it because I was working on posts … one of which was your flexi-rod posts. I got mixed up and started working on that last week instead of the Curlformers. So, I “pended” it for that one first. The Flexi-rods will be up tomorrow!

  3. I’ll be looking foward to the review for the brazil butt lift, I want to invest in the dvd’s if it’s worth it. Its easier this time of year to get back on track I think once the holidays are out of the way.

    • OMGosh!! Really Lacoya?!? Not EVEN!! LOL! Yeah, I’m short … much to my dismay ;). Most people think I’m about 5’5″ as I almost always wear 3-4″ heels! When I wear flats, I have to hear this all day: “Ooooh, wow you’re short.” “I didn’t realize how short you were.” “You’re short today.” LOL.

  4. I love that video, I love everything dance related. Might be getting a new aquisituion. You know I did the c25k too and ran a 5k last fall? I was going to start the bridge to 10 k but then I decided to train for this half marathon instead.

    • No I didn’t! I still haven’t done a real 5K. The Rugged Maniac is broken up, so it doesn’t count! But, we are doing it again this year. And now, a half?!? Yeah, I don’t think that I’ll ever do that! LOL!

  5. I LOVE the Biggest Loser (Dolvett *sigh*). I have joined the challenge on the eat clean diet website and I am also a member of sparkpeople.com but I don’t really communicate with people there. The other day I was in the CN forums and I noticed the health and fitness section. A bunch of ladies from there are on myfitnesspal.com. Now I feel like I have some people to hold me accountable. I lost 30 pounds last year and ran a 5k in September. Now I can’t even run around the block! I’ve maintained the 30 pound loss but I still have 40 more to go! I think having people who are looking at your progress really helps with motivation.

    • Yeah, Dolvett is kinda hot … but kinda psycho in the gym!! LOL!! You know, it’s funny, no one would really judge you if you don’t do something you said … but having people “watching” and seeing that they are sticking in there really does make you feel accountable to them … like, you have a duty! I know exactly what you mean about de-conditioning too! I did a Rugged Maniac last year … it’s a 5K with obstacles (link to FB album below … don’t know if it’ll work though). If you saw my PSD update for Day 2 … I couldn’t make it through a 30 min. kettlebell workout without stopping 3 times! I keep saying, it’s a lot easier to STAY in shape than GET BACK INTO shape. I don’t know why I don’t heed my own advice!
