So … Frickin’ …. Excited!!!

Standard

Most of you know about my love of Avatar: The Last Airbender. For those of you who don’t, I’m OBSESSED! In my opinion, it is the absolute best series on TV EVER … not cartoon … SERIES!! It’s just brilliant! Now, here’s the first peek at the opening for the new Avatar series, The Legend of Korra. I’m going to lose it!! I will be riveted to my TV when this finally premiers sometime next year, hopefully. If you loved this series as much as I, you better watch this fast as I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets pulled very quickly. Given that the words are backwards, it’s pretty obvious that it’s not an official release!

    • Yea!!! Girl, I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever in regard to that movie. I knew that it was going to be a travesty and actually got the movie attendant to let me buy a ticket for Karate Kid and then go see that. I refused to give my money or number to M.Knight Shyamalan! I lambasted that movie all the way through. Just pathetic. And sadly, my buddy just told me that they just started casting the sequel :(. If you are interested in other Avatar-related news, check out AvatarSpirit.net. It’s my “go-to” source for all things Avatar. There’s a graphic novel coming out soon with stories that will bridge the gap between Aang and Korra. The first one can be pre-ordered right now, from what I understand. I may be doing so shortly ;).

  1. So of course you know when the clip above didn’t work I was on YouTube for hours looking at avatar clips (yeah I know….. Crazy lol). Thanks for the website. My brother and I were trying to figure out what happened to Aang, but couldn’t find anything in the clips. I’m a bit sad that Aang died but still excited about the new book.
Ps boo to the sequel of the movie. They need to leave that alone….

    • AST … YES!! I swear, my theory has always been that they were planning a new series (too good and successful not to and I’d been to a panel at NYCC 2009 where they said they had more stories. They also said Joaquim Dos Santos had storyboarded Zuko’s reunion with his mother, but they nixed it. Those things made me KNOW that more was to come). I said to all my friends who would listen … “You just wait! The reason we aren’t hearing anything is because they want all attention to be focused on this loser movie! No one will go see it if they know there is a new series coming. Now, this is the only way to get our Avatar fix.” Then, I got the art of Avatar book and they had a sketch of Nala and the comments the accompanied it said that they loved this hybrid animal and maybe one day they’ll get to use her. That was right before the movie was released. I knew then that it definitely was coming soon … or news of it was, or they wouldn’t have included that comment in the book. If you want your fix, definitely pick it up. It is an absolutely gorgeous tome with soooo much good stuff in it. If you are an Avatar fan, you will love it. Anyway, back to the movie, I knew it was going to be a fiasco. Just embarrassing and he had the nerve to profess that he understood the series when it’s so obvious that he did not. My mission before that movie came out was to get everyone I could to watch the series before it saw the light of day because I didn’t want them to see the movie and believe that was what the series was like.

Oh and Nancy, these “gap books” will give you more Aang stories and, we’ll see Aang in the new series. C’mon, he’s the prior Avatar:). Korra will see him like Aang saw Roku! Also, we have his progeny as Aang’s son, Tenzin, is Korra’s airbending teacher. You knew that right? I can’t remember what stuff I told you and what I did not. I know a lot of little tidbits and there is a lot of sketches and mini-bios of the new characters floating around on the net too!

    • LaNora … I swear … we are kindred spirit couples!! We sooooo gotta do a double date soon! Wei wasn’t a cartoon watcher (he wasn’t even a TV or movie watcher), but he watched Avatar and loved it too:). He’s not obsessed like me (I could name every episode and tell you which one by a screen shot), but he really enjoyed it:). The super cute thing? He tells me that even though he isn’t a cartoon/comics fan, when he wrote his list of what he wanted in a mate, he wrote, “Someone who likes comics/cartoons!” I still have a hard time believing that, because it seems so unlikely given that he wasn’t into these things. But he says the reason is because it demonstrated a certain personality type :).
