Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Standard

In case you don’t know already, I am a huge cartoon/comic book *fangirl.* My all-time favorite series is Avatar: The Last Airbender (please do not ask about either of the movies released last year with those titles. One has nothing to do with the series and the other was a travesty and a joke). Avatar: TLA is brilliance in storywriting and animation. My love of it is borderline obsessive. I can tell you the title of every single one of the 60 episodes in the series, probably in order, could identify each ep by a single screen shot and quote from many. Yeah … I’m not kidding.

Now, four years after the end of the original series, the first trailer for the new series premiered at the San Diego Comic Convention, the biggest comic convention in the world!! The joy and excitement I am feeling cannot be contained. That’s why I must share this with you. The music, animation, sets, scale and action are … just … epic.

Without further ado, the first trailer for Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

  2. O MY GOSHHHHHH!!! I HAVE TO SHOW THIS TO MY HUSBAND!!!!!

ok, my husband and I LOVE avatar. Seriously. I likened my morning sickness to Toph’s earthbending (sounds weird, but if you see it on my blog, you’ll understand). Merci for posting this! I can’t wait to watch it, but I’ll wait for him to come home so we can see it together. This series was indescribably good. That is all.

  3. Hey girl,
I’m also a big fan of comic books, but my obsession has been relagated to Wonder Woman. I’ve been collecting her series since I can’t even remember. I have seasons 1 & 2 with Linda Carter on DVD and I have 2 collector’s edition dolls. I could go on and on about my list of memorialbilia (i think I spelled that right), but I don’t want to bore you or anybody else, lol. I’m also a HUGE wrestling fan, specifically the WWE! I’m definitely going to check out the NYC Comic Con in October. Anyhoot, just wanted to let you know you have a fellow fangirl 🙂

  4. Okay, you ladies have just made my frickin’ day!!!! The completely hair unrelated post has garnered the most comments so far today!!! And, the comments aren’t, “Shelli, you’re funny.” They are agreeing with me!!!! LOVE it!!! LOL!! Hi Lola, no, I don’t watch Naruto. I’m not a fan of anime as a general practice. I tried to give Naruto a try when it first premiered, but quickly decided it wasn’t for me. Though Avatar has some anime influences, especially in character design and some story elements (I know Michael and Bryan are heavily influenced by Miyazaki, I believe), it still has a lot of Western influence that differentiates it from “traditional” anime like Naruto, Bleach and Sailor Moon type series.

Icela, you like WW? Have you seen the Bruce Timm WW animated movie? I have a signed copy=). I got to ask him and a panel at NYCC 2009 a question and people with the best questions got signed copies of the movie. I was ecstatic=). LOL!! WW is awesome. Omg, we definitely have to connect if you’re at the NY Con!!

  6. Imogen, that sounds beautiful. Although I’m not an anime fan, you’re still cool in my book because you’re a woman who enjoys a good cartoon;-). AST, sorry=(. Maybe they’ll release it for the UK soon!

    • Although I never seen Howl’s, I’ve seen pictures and realized it was made by Hayao Miyazaki. His works are anime but it’s not as ‘anime’ as tv series. Check out Spirited Away, very good!

I just LOVE AVATAR!! Remember when she told him, “So let me make one thing clear, you give me any reason to believe that you might hurt Aang, and you won’t have to worry about your destiny anymore. Because I’ll end it. Permanently.” WAAAA!!!!!!! Awww man, best … show … ever. *sigh*

  8. I am also an Avatar fan, don’t you just love “Uncle”! He is like the one good older person from the Fire Nation. I have to say that Naruto I my fav, and I’m on episode 221 of Naruto Shippuden. I can’t wait until the whole Saske saga ends. Oh, and I can’t stand Killer Bee. This is my first time on your site and the mix of hair and anime will bring me back!

  9. Uncle was my FAVORITE character until Toph came along and he still is a very, very close second!!! “Ohhhhh, that is HANDSOME!” LMBO!! Love Uncle! When Mako died during season 2, I was devastated! Every time I watch Tales of Ba Sing Se and they get to the part where Uncle is under the tree, making the picnic for Lu Ten’s birthday and sings that sad … “little soldier boy … come marching home … ” OMG! I tear up every single time!!! And the end, when Zuko finally reunites with Uncle and apologizes for all his mistakes?!?!? Another tear jerker!! Freddie, one word of warning, I’m not really an anime fan, I just love Avatar. But it seems that you are among friends;-) and can have some convos about your interests. I’m mostly into superheros and Phineas and Ferb right now. However, I’m very behind on most of my ‘toons because I’m always working on hair blog related stuff anymore!! I have a crap load of Avengers episodes on my DVR that have yet to be watched. Anyone else checking out Thundercats tomorrow night?
