8/3/12: I had so much fun reading the comments on this when I first posted it in July, October and then January, figured I’d “paste” it to the front page again and see who else reveals themselves!! Won’t you play along ;)?!
LOL!!!! Over the last week or so, I’ve seen quite a few new names around here and some have specifically admitted to being “lurkers” for a while (the Hairscapades GOC seems to be responsible for bringing a few out of the shadows;). I totally respect that and have lurked myself!! Kimmaytube has no idea that I visited her leave-in recipe many times over the last year (I don’t think I subscribed, liked or “favorited” any of her videos! Yeah, need to take care of that;). However, now that I have my own blog, I realize that comments, likes, shares, twitters, favoriting and subscriptions to a site, posts, Youtube video/channel, etc. help one understand if their content is desired and enjoyed. Plus, I just wonder who else is out there regularly visiting the site, but just hasn’t felt inclined to reveal themselves yet. I’d really like to understand what content you like the best, if you like the site at all, if you come back often … so, if you are enjoying what you are seeing and reading and feel so inclined, please come out of the shadows;)!!!! Don’t be scared. We don’t bite=).
And to all my regulars and those newly revealed readers, thank you SOOOOO much for your support!!! I wouldn’t be doing this without your encouragement and interest!!! Please continue to visit and comment!
You guys rock!!
I’ve been meaning to post something like this on my site. I’d love to know who’s reading and what they think of my crazy journey.

I didn’t see you when I was on the GOC challenge but yet I was barely there. However, I have seen you on curlynikki and youtube. I am a teacher and I have my own blog dedicated to sharing ideas with other teachers and parents). I guess you can say I am an official “follwer” of hairscapades). Awesome!!! The more the merrier=)!! Maybe you’ll remember to submit your story during the challenge=)! I read that you’ve tried henna but have been worried about the curl loosening in some areas with repeated use. Have you read my “Henna and Me” HairStory? I only henna my roots now for about 3-4 applications and either do a gloss or just conditioner on the length. Maybe you can try that? Thanks again for coming out of the shadows=)!

I love the blog…I found you through the banana clip bun tutorial (which I CANNOT do BTW. I broke my banana clip!),that was posted on Curly Nikki’s site. I love love love all the info you provide, and I am loving your regimen. Tried it out, and had great results.

I’m sorry I made you break your banana clip Mia=(! LOL!!! I’d love hair thick enough to do that;-). Did you have one like mine (the thin one)? I saw a thicker one at Sally’s recently, like a hard plastic, tortoise shell looking one. But, I always wonder if those are too thick to conceal. However, if your hair is so thick it’s breaking banana clips, that’s probably not a concern! LOL!! And, when you say you tried out my regimen, which aspects?!?!? I posted hair, diet and exercise. Do you mean the hair one? You’re doing the steps I have outlined? OMGosh, I’m so happy if my regimen is helping you!! As I said above to Stef, that makes all of my efforts on building this site feel so worthwhile!!! Thank you so much for the feedback!

Okay okay – here goes! Yet another lurker revealed LOL!! I actually discovered you and your blog via the Curlinikki FB site. I guess I should take this time to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I lurk on a few sites, and comment only when I feel particularly compelled to do so – which is like my real life personality. I don’t talk just to talk, I have to feel like I really have something to say. Okay back to the point, I find that a lot of sites and video blogs are overwhelming for me because there is just too much information, sometimes even too preachy. I love your blog because you keep it simple and to the point, while sharing your expereinces, tips and tricks. That really appeals to me. Oh and I’m in Virginia so I really hope to attend your DC meetup. Wait one last thing (I have a lot to say now that you’ve called me out) – I am a long term transitioner and I still feel like there’s so much I can’t do until I do my big chop – hence another reason that I lurk. Keep doing what you’re doing though – thoroughly enjoying it! Beautiful hair too btw!!

Kenisha, you’re not a lurker!! You’ve commented on more than one occasion=)! I’m glad you enjoy the site and the flower tutorial!!
nJoynMe, thank you sooo much! I’m glad I came up with a post that was compelling enough to get you to “reveal” yourself. I also thank you for all of the kind words. They make doing this worthwhile and I hope that I can fill a niche in this big universe. As you said, this whole thing can be overwhelming and I try to balance providing enough content to keep people engaged, but not so much as to be mentally exhausting!! I also try my best to provide it in a clean format. I find some sites visually off-putting as they have too much going on for my old eyes. So, I try to be sensitive to that and use a style that is organized and easy to navigate without being boring. Comments like yours make me believe that I’m on the right track. Thank you again and I hope you can make the meet-up. In fact, I’m hopeful that a lot of people who participate in the grow out challenge (transitioners are more than welcome … hint, hint;-) and live in the area will attend!!

Okay, so here’s the thing … I don’t have specific transitioner questions. So, you can look at my other HairStory interview questions and pick and chose OR … be really bad and jack questions from another site that does transition stories! LOL!!! CurlyNikki has a lot of transition stories. Some of the specific questions I think would be helpful to other transitions is knowing how you manage the two textures, how long you’ve been transitioning, if you are planning on being a long-term or short-term transitioner, what your staple styles are, why you decided to transition to natural, when you received your first relaxer, what your regimen is, what are your holy grail and staple products, what are your biggest challenges and how are you contending with them … shoot, I just wrote the interview questions here, didn’t I??? LOL!! So yeah, just start with a blurb about yourself (100 words or less) and then have at it!! 🙂
Oh, and most importantly (not really, but it’s my thing;), PICTURES PLEASE (5-6 is good)!!! LOL!! I love pictures and think most people do.

Hey, I was a lurker. Then Shelli put the survey out about what we would like too see on the site, and I decided to start commenting and rating stuff. I wanted to encourage her and the GOC participants.
I visit this blog 3-4 times a week, and love the information. Shelli is very thorough, and I love it. Being a mechanical engineer, I think about things in steps and algorithms a lot, and so although our hair textures differ, I have been following Shelli’s hair care regimen for the past 3 months! I remember the Aphogee post, loved the details. Thanks Shelli for your attention to detail and your dedication to this blog! I am going to continue to make an effort to rate, like and comment more.

LOL!! Omgosh, you’re another engineer. I think my “thorough” … verbose … way of writing appeals to a lot of the scientific ladies!! I know I have a few more engineers who follow the site!! And, the funny thing is, I think of myself as very right-brain … I was not a fan of the sciences or mathematics … always and art and English/Literature type person. But, I also have a teacher type personality and I think that is why I tend to try to explain things in a comprehensive manner. Glad that it works for you guys:).

LOL…I may as well just confess also. 😀 You blog is awesome and I enjoy lurking every chance that I get. I’ve learned so much from you and am turning into a complete henna head. I’ll chill on the lurking a bit, stop being antisocial…and comment every now and then while dressed in an inconspicuous generic black lurking hat.
