As some of you may know, Hairscapades was born out of my participation in the NaturallyCurly.com sponsored Curly Nikki Presents Kim Coles’ Grow Out Challenge. The challenge is over at the end of July and a few of us who interact quite often through our GOC blogs would like to put together a Meet Up!
That being said, we would like to get an idea of how many people might be interested in attending and determine a time and location so that we can start planning it. You don’t have to be part of the challenge to participate. This event is for all kinky, coily, curly, transitioning, contemplating transitioning, big chopping and/or natural hair lovers are welcome!! As we are all over the place, but those of us who interact the most often seem to be located on the East Coast, we were thinking of DC as the possible locale. Given that it is very hard to follow and locate comments on the GOC blogs, I am creating the information gathering forum here (for now;0).
If interested in attending, please answer the following questions in the comments section of this post:
- Can you/would you be willing to travel to Washington DC for a Meet Up? UPDATE: Looks like we will be meeting in DC.
- Which month would you prefer, August or September? Other? Please specify. UPDATE: Looks like we may be going with 8/27. Would that work for you?
- Would you be interested in participating in a Product Swap Meet at the Meet Up?
- Can/Would you like to assist in the planning and organization of the GOC Meet Up? (If so, please message me your contact information via the e-mail button below.)
(Note: My SO lived in DC for many years. So, if it looks like it’s a go, I’ll solicit him for locale suggestions depending on how many will attend. He’s a little connected in DC, so think he’d be able to help us secure a nice, trendy location if this thing doesn’t get too big.)

1. I live in the DC area, so it would be no problem at all for me to meet up.
2. August works much best for me, I start school in September and I will not have any free time. 8/27 works with me just fine!!!
3. I would not be available the weekend of 8/13, and 8/20
4. I would LOVE to participate in a product swap. I have about 50 something hair products, half of which I NEVER use.
5. I would not mind helping, but I would rather not because I am moving in August and that is going to take up alot of my time so I dont want to put myself out there a not be able to go through with it.

I am moving out of DC in about 2 weeks but I will only be about 20 minutes away so I’ll be there.

No it is not!!! I’m actually going to do a post before the week is up to get a count of how many people are planning on attending. I’m trying to secure a locale (probably on U Street in DC) and maybe some door prizes. I’m hoping to e-mail all of my subscribers too to gauge interest. So, definitely stay in touch!!

I would love to get more info on the meetup. I live in Northern VA, so DC’s a GREAT place to meet! August 27th works for me! Hi guys, just letting you know that August 27th is still the date! I’m just still trying to work out the location. My first choice is unavailable due to the baby shower of the manager’s wife (or something like that!). LOL! So, my SO has feelers out to two other locations and is following up today. Okay, I am really trying to make this hair meet-up, so many things are going on, not to mention summer break is over and I am headed back to work. Just in case I+my 2(aunt and friend) can’t make it I wanted to donate a brand new Naturally Brilliant T-shirt (and possibly some hand made hair accessories). It can be used as a giveaway item or a door prize. Anyhoo, I would like to send it somewhere so that you guys have it just in case, once again, I do not show.
