Day 3 (or is it Day 2?) WnG Hair

Standard

Hmmm, I got my hair done on Sunday, but didn’t finish until around 8 pm. So, is a day counted by how many days you had to sleep on your hair or a 24 hour span? I’ll go with the first method and will say this is Day 3 hair!

So, I’ve just been putting my hair in a pineapple overnight with a satin scrunchie (no wrapping required) and sleeping with it uncovered on a satin pillowcase. However, on Monday night, my hair was feeling pretty dry and looking dull. So, I decided to apply some Curls Curl Souffle to the length and sealed it with Wild Growth Hair Oil (WGHO) Light. Then, I applied the regular formula WGHO to my scalp and massaged it in a little before pineappling my hair for the night. On Tuesday morning, because my curls were looking a little flat, I decided to refresh my WnG as I explained here. I lightly spritzed my curls with Sally’s GVP Infusium 23 until my hair was slightly damp. Then, I mixed LaBella Lots of Curls with Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter (CD HHB) in my palm and smoothed it down each side of my hair, without separating or disturbing the curls too much.

And the above was my Day 3 hair after work … and walking through the rain … no umbrella … twice. That’s right. I don’t even OWN an umbrella. Haven’t for close to a decade. I bought one one time … lost it within a week. Haven’t owned one since. I laugh at rain. I’m gangsta like that.

Wait … what was I saying? *lol* Anywho, at lunch, I pulled the front of my hair back with a mini-jaw clip that I keep in the hair emergency kit;). It ย was falling in my face while I ate and I really like my hair when it’s pulled back like this.

I took the above photos in the mirror like this as the pics never seem to do the volume justice when I aim the camera directly at myself. But here’s my requisite, non-mirror profile shot too ;).

I’m really loving my cut!! Though I’m seeing how much shorter it looks, I think it’s a good shape and losing those loosened waves is allowing both my curls and volume to return. Yea big, curly hair;)! Anywho, I expect that this Refresh and Go should last through Wednesday and I expect to refresh again on Thursday morning with another round of Infusium 23, LaBella Lots of Curls and CD HHB to make it to the weekend. If it starts looking crazy frizzy or too massive with all of this rain, I’ll just puff or bun it. Well … that’s the plan anyway.

How many days do you get out of your WnG? How do you refresh it between wash sessions?

  1. I dont understand it! You must have mega-strands! You used alot of products even with a light hand. Yet, there’s no sign of product buildup or flat curls. You have mega-volume and great, natural looking definition. I’m green with envy. That is all! I quit!

    • Hi Rhonda, have you tried the Terressentials Mud Wash? It does work for product build up and you may find that need less styler when styling your hair as well as a newfound volume in your tresses.

      • Hi Curlychellz,

I have not tried the Terressentials Mud Wash, but THANK YOU for the suggestion. I’ve been following the reviews on the product and many rave. My biggest issue is my hair won’t hold definition. It frizzes and puffs at the root but over half my life is wavy (vs coily or curly). I can only describe it has multiple textures on the same strand. Very much like Shelli’s henna loosening phenomena only much more extreme. My hair is only ~1/2 – 1″ shy of bra length when stretched so I dont have enough length to compensate. Probably time for a major trim to begin getting rid of my straighter ends………?

        • OMG, we sound like hair twins, my roots are frizzy/poofy and then wavy and some ends curl and others are straight-(mind you I bc’d to near baldness). I think what I need is a curly cut and now that I’ve streamlined my products alot more, I too can achieve a crown of glory to be proud of…lol. Let me know if/when you try the TMW-I totally swear by it!

  2. One last point, yes, you’re hair is shorter but it really does look much more attractive (in my opinion). I didn’t realize it at first but the shorter, bigger hair really makes you look more youthful. The shorter tresses around your face draws attention to your face (you were hiding from us with the longer hair in the front). Hey, Shelli!

  3. I don’t refresh. heck I’ve only done a WnG maybe twice. My hair igs me. I think that I just don’t know how to do a WnG properly. It never lasts past a day. oh well.

Your 2nd pic you look so cute like a little girl!

by the way I used the AO products you recommended and OMG I got the best twist out ever! I had to do a video on it LOL. It goes up on my blog on Monday.

  4. As I am still transitioning I WnG almost every day. I don’t like 2nd or 3rd day hair it just never looks right to me. I have tried pineapple, satin bonnet, satin pillowcases and refreshing the next day but it is not the look I want.
    BTW…Your cut looks great!

  6. My style lasts a full week! I use the tightly curly method. I use Aussie Moist conditioner and seal with Carols Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey, comb and define with denman brush and fingers. Lasts a whole week! When my hair gets a little frizzy in about four days, I just spray with water and smooth in a little more conditioner for definition that lasts until the next wash day. Shelli, your style is beautiful, and yeah, I laugh at rain now also (love that)! Love the side part, btw. (pic is from last summer, my hair curly is finally down to my shoulders). Love this blog!!!
